Do scammers have your password?
I’m going to show you how you can check in under 20 seconds.
I’m always a bit surprised when people haven’t heard of haveibeenpwned.com — but to be fair, cybersecurity usually doesn’t generate a lot of attention in the people I speak to (maybe I'm boring…). But things tend to change when people realise their email has been hacked and they suddenly can’t log in; I’ve been there and it’s awful.
If you’ve never used it, Have I Been Pwned is a free tool that checks whether your email address has been exposed in a data breach. No password required and no sign-up. Just a quick way to find out if your personal info is already out there. It takes less than 20 seconds — and could save you weeks of stress and significant sums of money.
If your email does come up as “pwned”, change your email password immediately — and don’t reuse the same one across different sites (I’d generally recommend a strong and unique password for your email separate to the other ones that you secretly re-use)
